Knights, who has signed Blake Green, has responded to claims made by his former coach Todd Payten that he doesn’t want to be at the New Zealand club.
Green was tied to the Knights for the remainder of the 2020 season after falling out of favor with Warriors Club management, but Journeyman No. 6 claims the decision is out of his hands.
“It is what it is,” said Green on the Fox League Super Saturday.

“Of course, he’ll likely be disappointed. I’ve been his main playmaker there for the last few years.
“But the club told me that I wouldn’t play at the end of the year if they didn’t have a chance in the final. So I could have played two more games than watched the rest of the year. So an opportunity arose and I went for it. “
Green’s three-year stint with the Warriors was his longest stint at a club in his 173-game career with seven different teams.
It made the decision to leave an emotional one, despite Green admitting no other choice.

“It made the decision easy for me back then,” said Green.
“[It was an] emotional because I gave everything I had to the club but I just wanted to play a little footy and I had a chance here and I’m very grateful to the Knights for giving it to me. “
However, Green couldn’t guarantee if his eight-game stint plus final would be extended into the next season if Newcastle makes it.
“I have no idea to be honest,” said Green when asked about his long-term plans.
“Only the opportunity to come here was good.
“As I said, I had an amazing three years with the Warriors. I liked that very much.
“This is just the next chapter for me and I’ll do my best over the last eight laps and see where it takes me.”
