‘NEC clique’ bothers Heubach: ” I think that’s a bad thing ”

Jeroen Heubach was under contract with FC Twente for years in the past and has grown into a cult hero. However, the former professional football player (45) was fired by the Tukkers in 2015 and is critical of the course of events.

“There is a high level of us-knows-us. A certain trainer or director comes and in his wake you see certain employees or players with whom he has worked before,” he explains in conversation with Voetbal International. “At FC Twente you had the clique of AGOVV last season with Ted van Leeuwen, Gonzalo Garcia and Dennis van der Ree”, Heubach recalls.

“Now you see another NEC clique at the youth academy of FC Twente / Heracles Almelo with Dominique Scholten and Iddo Roscher”, he continues in the weekly. “They come from Rob Toussaint, who also comes from NEC. Who is in charge of that joint youth academy? Not FC Twente. I think that’s a bad thing”, Heubach concludes.
