According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Brooklyn Nets have ambitious plans for their opening as head coach, targeting San Antonio Spurs manager Gregg Popovich.
Although the 71-year-old has given no indication that he wants to leave San Antonio, the Nets “plan to seriously explore the possibilities with Popovich.”
Spurs are coming out of a 32-39 season, missing the playoffs for the first time since Popovich’s first year with the team in 1996-97.
