Miquel Llobet resigns as president of Peralada

The president of Peralada Miquel Llobet has submitted his resignation, as reported by the champagne club this afternoon. Llobet, who has chaired the entity for three yearss, wanted to say goodbye to members and supporters with an open letter provided by the Peralada.

Just last week, the president spoke to the players coinciding with the start of the preseason to thank them for their commitment given that next year will be “a challenge that the club faces together and with players and coaches motivated to the maximum “.

LETTER OPEN TO CF PERALADA MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS:

Today I presented to the Board of Directors of the club my resignation from the position of President of CF Peralada, a position for which I was elected in July 2017. They have been very intense years, with a very complex presidency, which is why I want to address me to you with this open letter, to make a brief review of my 3 years of dedication to CF Peralada.

First of all, it is necessary to contextualize the reason why I became president. Since I moved to Peralada with my family, 24 years ago, very soon from the football club I was asked many times for my professional collaboration as a traumatologist that I am, without any consideration other than the love shown to me by the different managers and staff of the club, I operated and treated many players, I remember a particular season, in which I operated on up to five cruciate ligament injuries, this collaboration I always maintained with all the directives.

That is why when in June 2016 a critical situation arose in our club due to the affiliation with Girona FC, through the agreement signed by the board that preceded me, I immediately collaborated with that meeting to resolve the issue, a goal that we all achieved together. From there came a consensus candidacy promoted by the club and its surroundings to lead CF Peralada with my person as president.

In these 3 years, the club has resolved the complicated affiliation agreement with Girona FC, having regained control of the club and our identity from the 2019-2020 season. It is worth remembering that Girona at the end of May 2019 unilaterally terminated the current affiliation contract for 5 years and left us without players or coaches, with the huge work of Nitus Santos as Sports Director, his team and from the effort of my board members and club employees we knew how to remake the squad reaching the 5th place of 3rd Division one step away from playing the promotion playoff, unfortunately this projection was cut short by the pandemic of the Covid19.

The board that I had the honor of chairing has kept in mind that the priority goal of the club was training football, as our grassroots football serves more than 250 boys in Peralada and the surrounding area, and enjoys a well-deserved prestige. This year, an affiliation agreement has been signed with UE Cabanes to promote women’s football and create a 4th Catalan men’s subsidiary team, Peralada-Cabanes B. During our tenure at the club, the artificial turf field with the full collaboration and drive of the City Council, old claim of the club, have improved the facilities (locker rooms, offices, bar, expansion of the grandstand and the playing field) and the accounts of the club are balanced and without deficit, overcoming the problems generated by the disastrous affiliation with Girona FC.

My time as manager of CF Peralada is over now, I have nothing but words of gratitude for all those who have collaborated loyally with me and those who have not I do not reproach them, I have already forgotten. From here I also want to apologize if anyone has felt offended or upset by what they have been able to do or say in the exercise of my office and I hope I do not hold any grudges.

Finally, I can only wish my club, CF Peralada many sporting successes, which will surely be achieved by the great potential of the entity.

Long live the Peralada!

Miquel Llobet i Llambrich
