Marcus Rashford gives Donny van de Beek the seal of approval for the transfer when Man Utd hits a deal

Marcus Rashford appears to have stamped his seal of approval on Manchester United’s upcoming transfer capture of midfielder Donny van de Beek.

Van de Beek will be confirmed as United’s first signing of the summer in the coming days after a £ 40m deal with Ajax.

The 23-year-old, who starred in the Dutch club’s entry into the Champions League semi-finals last year, has signed a five-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months.

And Rashford is clearly happy with the situation after “liking” a tweet in which journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed the Red Devils are confident of landing Van de Beek.

The English striker isn’t the only United player ready to welcome Van de Beek to Old Trafford. Bruno Fernandes, January midfielder, also liked an Instagram post that got the news out.

Donny van de Beek will be confirmed as a Manchester United player in the next few days

United have beaten some of the best European clubs to land Van de Beek. Real Madrid and Barcelona took an interest in the midfielder.

The Dutch international, who scored 41 goals and made 34 assists in 175 games for Ajax, appeared to be signed for Madrid earlier this summer when the Spanish champions agreed a £ 44.6m fee.

But the deal collapsed when the coronavirus crisis broke out.

New Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman had also hinted that he wanted to bring the midfielder to Nou Camp but the Catalan club are in an uproar after Lionel Messi announced he would leave.

Van de Beek told friends in Amsterdam that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s determination to sign him was the key factor in his decision.

He was impressed with the vision the United boss had given him of the direction the Red Devils would take after finishing third last season to seal their return to the Champions League.

Van de Beek refused to play in Ajax’s friendly against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday after learning that United were preparing to confirm their interest with an official offer.
