If Manchester United fans needed further proof that the club would have to break the transfer record to sign Jadon Sancho, look no further.

The Red Devils remain determined to sign the 20-year-old, but are unwilling to match Dortmund’s £ 108m asking price.

Dortmund have set United an August 8 deadline to agree a deal for Sancho and as United failed to do so, the Bundesliga giants say the case is “closed” and intend to keep England international.

The window closes in six weeks and United believe they can still sign Sancho, despite Dortmund’s statements.

And the winger gave United a timely reminder of his qualities with a simply stunning goal at Dortmund training today.

Sancho neatly shoved the ball through a teammate’s legs before making it home from close range.

The winger is believed to be excited about a move to Old Trafford, but will not deliver a transfer request to force out of Germany.

United have yet to agree personal terms with Sancho, despite Dortmund having given the club permission to talk to him about a move.

The Red Devils removed top earning Alexis Sanchez from their payroll earlier this month, but are afraid of handing out huge wages again, particularly given the financial effects of the pandemic.

United have yet to sign this summer, although goalkeeper Dean Henderson provided the club with good news Wednesday by accepting a new five-year contract.

Henderson will remain at Old Trafford next season to challenge David De Gea for first place, meaning Sergio Romero will likely leave Old Trafford.
