Manchester United confirm plans for Hannibal Mejbri next season

Manchester United U23 manager Neil Wood has warned fans that it may take a while before young Hannibal Mejbri is seen in the first team setting.

Mejbri, 17, impressed during his debut season in English football by helping United advance to Premier League 2 just a year after joining the club from Monaco for a figure that could rise to € 10m.

The creative midfielder made his United U18 debut only last September, before gradually moving up among the youth to finish the season playing with Wood in the U23.

After an encouraging first season, many fans are eager to see Mejbri grow up at Old Trafford, but his young manager has warned that expectations need to be carefully managed for the teenager.

“I think what you need to remember is that Hannibal is still a kid, he’s only 17,” Wood told MEN Sport.

“He hasn’t been here for very long, he’ll probably be close to his first completed season.

“I think people get sucked into the price, and again it’s not Hannibal’s fault. So I think he’s a young player with potential, he’s one of the young players we have with potential, but there’s still a lot of development and learning. that must be put in him.

“We still have to take him to the next level to get him to train with the first team as well, so there is no rush to start pushing him into that first team environment right now.

“I think the challenge will be enough for him in the U23s right now and we’ll push him and try to get him up as fast as possible, but at the same time we won’t rush him if he’s not ready to do that.”
