Manchester United and Tottenham have approached Ajax over a deal to sign Donny van den Beek, according to a report.
Van de Beek emerged as a top midfielder in the 2018/19 season when he helped Ajax in the Champions League semi-finals. He was one of 30 players to receive a Ballon d’Or nomination last year.
Therefore, reports over the past few months have linked the Dutchman to an exciting estrangement. Connections to Real Madrid were widespread, while United would also be passionate.
Recent speculation keep connecting United with one move. However, they appear to have financial implications has disappointed Real’s hopes of making important purchases.
Now, according to the Spanish newspaper Sport, both United and Tottenham have contacted Ajax for a potential deal.
The Dutch national team looks set to leave the team if a team matches Ajax’s asking price of £ 49m.
However, the Catalan newspaper says both Premier League teams could lose Van de Beek. This is because, it is said, the player is waiting for Barcelona to make their move.
According to the report, they claim that Van de Beek has his heart ready to move to Catalonia. They claim Van de Beek wants to team up with former Ajax teammate Frenkie de Jong in midfield. Moreover, Van de Beek has a good relationship with former Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman, who was recently appointed head of Barcelona.

ESPN expert Steve Nicol believes Van de Beek will be a great addition for Barcelona if he manages to strike a deal.
Nicol said: “I think it would be great for both him and Barcelona. I think he might get into those three in-between, [Arturo] Vidal surpassed his best.
“Van De Beek can play better passes than [Arturo] Anyway Vidal.
“I think he can enter the area and would score more goals than Vidal. Yes, this sounds like a smart move for both the player and the club. “
