BARCELONA – Lionel Messi has finally decided to leave Barcelona. The shocking news was reported directly by Marca, Wednesday (26/8/2020), who said that Messi had sent an official letter asking Barcelona to terminate his contract.

As is well known, the news of Messi wanting to leave Barcelona has blown very hard in the last few weeks. He has even met the club’s new coach, Ronald Koeman, to discuss his future in the team nicknamed the Blaugrana.

Koeman is reportedly trying to convince Messi to stay. However, it seems that the effort failed because in fact La Pulga – Messi’s nickname – has decided to really leave the club he has been defending for almost two decades.

According to a report from Marca, Barcelona has received a letter by fax with the club’s certificate in which Messi asks to be released from his contract through the activation of a clause that allows him to leave unilaterally at the end of each season.

Basically, the clause can be activated before June 1, but because currently his condition is extraordinary due to the corona virus outbreak which caused the competition to be postponed, Messi’s method this time seems to remain valid.

Of course the news is very surprising, although in recent times the issue of Messi leaving has been heard. Nobody thought a player as important as Messi would leave Barcelona, which he has been defending since 2000.

Barcelona are now reportedly having a meeting to discuss Messi’s future. They will discuss whether to release Messi or not in the near future.

The determination to leave that was shown by Messi was also very clear. In fact, a report from Tyc Sport said Messi was reluctant to come to medical tests for pre-season training which will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020.

Messi is also reportedly reluctant to participate in pre-season matches that have been arranged by Barcelona. All of that is enough to explain how much Messi wants to leave the club in Catalonia.

If Messi really left, then actually he wouldn’t have to bother looking for a new club. Because there are various top European clubs who are reportedly ready to accommodate the Barcelona captain.

Several teams have also been linked with being ready to accommodate Messi if the 33-year-old player does leave Barcelona. These teams are Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), and the biggest issue is Inter Milan.
