Last match report – St. Lucia Zouks versus Trinbago Knight Riders 13th match 2020

On either side of the rain, which reduced the St. Lucia Zouks innings to 17.1 overs and left Trinbago Knight Riders only nine overs to hit, the Bravo brothers took the match by the neck and gave the Knight Riders a comfortable win.

Dwayne Bravo picked up his 500th T20 wicket en route to extraordinary numbers of 2-for-7 from three overs before Darren Bravo hit 23 rather than 13 balls to help the Knight Riders achieve their 72-out-nine goal. The win keeps the Knight Riders winning streak in four games, while the runner-up Zouks suffered their second loss in five games.

Dwayne Bravo plows a milestone

No other bowler has 400 T20 wickets and yet Dwayne Bravo took his 500th place. He was one of the top five cricketers in the format and set the tone for the game with his opening spell, which Zouks never recovered from. Dwayne claimed to have caught two wickets – Rakheem Cornwall, before bowling Roston Chase. But more importantly, he only conceded five runs from those two overs, scored seven bullets – including the two wickets – and only conceded singles from the remaining deliveries. Dwayne returned for a third and was arguably even better when he died. From the 17th he only got two singles.

Darren Bravo drives Knight Riders across the line

Though 72 of nine overs initially looked like a pie, Zouks had some sort of fight with the ball, taking the first four wickets from the first 3.3 overs of the innings, leaving Knight Riders at 34 for 4. Darren Bravo would ensure Dwayne’s job with the ball but it wouldn’t be in vain hitting 23 of 13 balls to drive the Knight Riders home. During that knock, he hit his 100th CPL six – one of those shots that was fired so far that it landed on the stadium roof and needed a new ball.

Nabis all-round show

Zouks appeared to be behind for most of this game, but the man who most relentlessly pulled them toward parity was Mohammad Nabi. He hit 30 out of 22 with the bat and later claimed Llendl Simmons’ wicket with the second ball of the Knight Riders innings. He would later give Colin Munro a six and a four, finishing two overs with numbers 1 for 15. However, without Nabi, the loss of Zouks would have been even worse.
