James Rodriguez is expected to have a doctor in Everton later this week
James Rodriguez could strike a deal to join Everton from Real Madrid by Wednesday.
An agreement between the two clubs to transfer James could be less than 48 hours away. The striker is expected to receive medical care this week.
The 29-year-old, who earns around £ 200,000 a week at the Bernabeu, has been classified as overwhelmed by Real boss Zinedine Zidane.
The Colombian international would team up with Carlo Ancelotti for the third time after playing under him at Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
James fought for games last season and only made 14 appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions in 2019/20.
Last month, Ancelotti was asked about the possibility of signing him but the Everton boss downplayed the prospect that a genuine approach had been made for the playmaker.
Rodriguez fell out of favor under Zidane last season
“James Rodriguez? I like, I like a lot as a player,” said Ancelotti.
“When I left Madrid, James Rodriguez followed me to Munich. He came to play.
“But it followed me as a rumor to Napoli and now it is following me here to Everton as a rumor.
“I have to be honest, I like him a lot. But he’s a Real Madrid player. I think he will still be a Real Madrid player.”
James has 12 months left on his contract in Madrid and it is believed that he will be keen to move to Goodison Park on a three-year deal.
Meanwhile, Everton have signed a deal with Napoli to sign midfielder Allan, while the club continue to negotiate with Watford to sign midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Defense attorney Michael Keane has signed a new five-year deal with Goodison through 2025.
