Inter are targeting Manchester United defender Chris Smalling and other transfer rumors

Inter Milan made Manchester United defender Chris Smalling their main target this summer, according to reports.

Smalling joined AS Roma on a seasonal loan last summer and is believed to be keen to extend his stay in Italy, despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinting he may stay at Old Trafford.

Roma have yet to meet United’s asking price for the 29-year-old and according to reports Inter are looking to take advantage of the situation.

Inter have already signed a player from United this summer, Alexis Sanchez who is completing a permanent transfer to the Italian giants, and believes their good relationship with the Reds can help secure Smalling’s services.

Tuttosport Antonio Conte’s claim has cooled his interest in Torino defender Armando Izzo in order to pursue a move for Smalling.

Inter Milan could face competition from Roma after the club’s acquisition was completed earlier this month with reports suggesting extra funds have been made available for the transfer.

Elsewhere, Jack Grealish is expected to hold talks with Aston Villa about his future at the club when he returns from vacation.

He adds that Villa will ask for up to £ 80m for their captain and Grealish wants assurances that United’s interest will not be ignored.
