Even after his active career, Adil Auassar will remain associated with Sparta. The 33-year-old midfielder wants to end his career at Het Kasteel and then start working as a youth coach.
“You can’t plan things in football, but if you’re very realistic, this is my last club. I’m not looking for anything else,” he told RTV Rijnmond. Auassar is already busy with his teammates. Often constructively critical, sometimes very hard. “You play football for a living, for your children, for your future. If you want to start walking glands, you have to do that with the amateurs and not with us.”
Auassar, active in the past at Feyenoord, Excelsior and De Graafschap, among others, is happy that he now plays in the Eredivisie. When he arrived two years ago, Sparta was still a Kitchen Champion Division club. “In my first year I had quite a hard time motivating myself. I was no longer used to the stadiums of Telstar, for example. Missed the stimulus of the Eredivisie.”
