Kieran Tierney

A key reason as to why Gabriel was chosen as Arsenal’s the main defensive goal was the fact that he was left-handed.

Mikel Arteta desperately tried to add a left-handed defender operating on that side of a defender two or three, and now he seems to have taken his man.

Kieran Tierney he had played that role in the back end of the season, but Gabriel’s arrival means he can return to left back where he is much more effective.

The Scotsman’s deliveries and driving races are a key attacking asset for the Gunners and he will be happy to return to his natural position.

Bernd Leno

The German goalkeeper was often left unattended last season as Arsenal struggled defensively, but Gabriel’s defensive stats should fill him with confidence.

The 22-year-old finished in the top seven for most defensive stats in Ligue 1 last season and looks like a solid addition to the back line.

The Lille man like all attributes to be a modern central defender and could very well deliver Bernd Leno with much more protection next season.

Nicolas Pepe

Gabriel becomes the second player to pass by A little at Arsenal in the past 12 months since Pepe’s arrival last summer, and a familiar face could help the Ivorian continue his adaptation.

The pair played together at the Stade Pierre Mauroy and after a tough first season in the Emirates, a former team-mate may be just what the club’s record signing needs to help kick off the next season.

This will also be a boost for Gabriel as Pepe’s presence should help him settle in England.
