Horst Seehofer wants fans to return to stadiums

Band Interior Minister Horst Seehofer advocates moving away from “black and white solutions” when it comes to the audience question at major sporting events. “We can slowly let viewers back into the stadiums without neglecting the protection against infection,” said the CSU politician in an interview with the “Donaukurier” (Saturday). He is glad that there are now more and more supporters for this approach.

He was very satisfied with the decisions made by the prime ministers last Thursday. “The principle of not admitting any spectators for an indefinite period of time is basically off the table. We will now examine when and how we can experience the sport again with public participation, ”said the minister.

According to Seehofer, concepts will be developed over the next few weeks to allow spectators to be allowed again. “It’s not just about football, but also about all other sports. I think we’ll have more precise plans in early autumn. ”He is committed to ensuring that ice hockey fans, for example, can return to the stadiums this year.

“Many clubs are already working on concepts. So I am very confident that we will soon have spectators in the stadium again – albeit in limited numbers for the time being. We don’t know how long the pandemic will occupy us, but it could be that it will take a while. ”The safety measures must therefore be designed in such a way that social life becomes possible again. “If you follow the prevention rules, then you can be responsible. So far we have done well in Germany. “
