Historic boycott in the NBA for a new case of racism

The NBA has decided to postpone the entire playoff day scheduled for this Thursday after the boycott of the Milwaukee Bucks in their game against the Orlando Magic, the fifth in the series, by not appearing in protest of the brutal police actions in the United States.

The day started with a surprise in the ‘Orlando bubble’ when the Bucks didn’t jump on the court. His opponent warmed up normally, but the Miklwaukee set was still in the locker room. With four minutes left in the clash, the Magic players decided to enter the box in the absence of a rival.

“The NBA and the Players’ Association have decided today – following events in the Milwaukee Bucks-Orlando Magic – to postpone the three games that were to be played: Houston Rockets-Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers-Portland Trail Blazers. The fifth game in each series will be rescheduled, “the organization said in a statement.

For their part, the Bucks vindicated their absence through these words: “It’s a big challenge to have an appreciation and a desire to want change. To want something different and better in Kenosha, Milwaukee and Wisconsin and then leave to play, ”they justified their absence.

This protest comes to demand the “racial justice” the team demands in the words of its coach. Protests began in the United States after a video circulating on social media on Sunday of a 29-year-old citizen, Jacob Blake, was shot 7 times at close range by a police officer.

Attorney Ben Crump, who represents Blake, has noted that he continues to be admitted to intensive care and will need to undergo further operations. The shootings against 29-year-old Blake, who was in front of his three children when the incident occurred, have sparked a new wave of protests in cities across the country.
