The fourth stage of the World Rallycross Championship, which took place right there in Finland, took place in changing weather conditions – if the qualifiers rained and the athletes rode on a wet and muddy track, then the final was no longer rainy, but the track was still wet and slippery.
Despite the difficult weather conditions, the fastest in the qualification was the world RX overall leader Johann Christoferson, followed by Niklas Gronholm and Matthias Ekstroms. Christopher won in the first semi-final, but Gronholm in the second, who both also started from the first starting line in the final.
The start in the final was more successful for Christopher, but in the first quick turn, Gronholm took advantage of Johan’s slight slip and took the lead. The third at that time was Ekstrom. Christoferson then followed Gronholm closely and tried to overtake him, but the Finn skillfully defended and defended his first position.

In the third lap, without missing Gronholm, Christopher went to the joker, returning to third place – behind Gronholm and Ekstrom. Christopher then captured the two leaders and followed them closely. Both Gronholm and Ekstrom went to the joker in the last lap. Although Christopher seemed to be taking over at the time, Gronholm and Ekstrom miraculously managed to keep the first two positions. It should be noted that Johan desperately tried to pull out the third place, but in the end a slip and a small contact with Timur Timerzyanov threw the overall leader to the fourth position. It should be noted that the Top 4 riders were separated at the finish in just 1.7 seconds.
In four points, Christopher (111) is 17 points ahead of Ekstrom (94), but Gronholm (76) climbed from sixth to third.
The 5th and 6th stages of the World RX Championship will take place on September 19-20 in Biķernieki.
