Logan Ryan has a new portrayal. That could mean he’ll have a new home in the NFL in time for the start of the season.
The free-agent defensive back has multiple suitors and is set to sign with a team after hiring powerful agent Joel Segal, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, by sources. The agency change is official after Ryan’s former agents waived the five-day waiting period, Rapoport added.
Ryan, of course, is one of the best players out there. It is also among the most versatile. His 113 tackles, 18 defenses, 4.5 sacks, four steals and four forced fumbles for the Titans last year earned him 60th place in the NFL Top 100.
The eighth-year veteran is often listed as a cornerback, but has stressed to teams that he should be considered a DB hybrid to move forward. To emphasize this point, his former agent emailed the 32 clubs with a table of the best security stats. Ryan, who lined up as a lunge wedge on about 65% of his shots and various safe spots more than 15% of the time, stacked well.
After months of trying to capitalize on his market value, Rapoport reported that Ryan’s priority now is to be in uniform by week 1. The biggest question, as it has been since March, is to know where.
