In a crowded heavyweight division, Dillian Whyte spent years being the weird man. Instead of waiting for the world title picture to shake between Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua to secure his status as a mandatory WBC challenger, Whyte will step into the ring against the aging but still dangerous Alexander Povetkin on Saturday.
Whyte is in a winning streak with eleven fights and has won various second titles during this time, including the WBC intermediate championship, which he will contest against Povetkin. The challenger’s two career losses were due to attempts to fight for uniform heavyweight titles – first against Wladamir Klitschko and then against Anthony Joshua. In his last fight, Povetkin fought for a draw with Michael Hunter.
So CBS Sports will be with you all the way on Saturday. Be sure to follow the live results and highlights below.
