Gibbs, who has made 267 appearances in the AFL for Carlton and Adelaide since making his debut in 2007, has been on the winless Crows side that season and has only played two games.

But the news has put the problems in the field with the devastating blow in his personal life into perspective again.

Lauren posted a picture of Charlie and Madison in matching pajamas and shared news of the loss.

“We were so excited to see these two with another sibling,” she wrote. “I started making matching pajamas for them because they were to be accompanied by another little one in the New Year.

“Instead, we only have dreams of what could have been. It’s crazy how much you can love someone you’ve never met before. “
Gibbs added that she talked about the loss and listening to others’ stories helped with her pain.

“I know I’m not alone with this and it certainly helped to talk about my miscarriage,” she said. “I’ve given strength to so many strong women who have supported me by telling their stories from similar times. Thank you to all of my wonderful family and friends. Grateful for my two little ones who make my world better every day. “

Adelaide Football Club recently had several player partners who had miscarried. Former Crows skippers Taylor Walker and Rory Sloane both lost babies in 2018.

Walker took time to play the game after losing his unborn child, while Sloane and his wife Belinda lost their son Leo in a tragic stillbirth.

A year later, the Sloanes announced that they were starting the Lion Warrior program with Red Nose, an organization committed to the eradication of sudden infant deaths (SIDS).

Earlier this season, North Melbourne star Ben Brown and his wife, Hester, announced the couple had lost one of their twin babies due in 2021.

The couple, who celebrated the birth of their daughter Aila in December 2018, said it was absolutely devastated to have lost their precious second twin.
