Brett Favre on NFL players kneeling during National Anthem: ‘I don’t think’ anyone is right or wrong

Brett Favre has speculated on the reaction of NFL players if more players kneel during the national anthem this season to protest racial injustice and police brutality in the United States.

The former Green Bay Packers doesn’t think a guy would be right or wrong whether or not he knelt during the anthem.

TRUMP ASKS NFL AND NBA TO COMPETE DURING NATIONAL ANTHEM

“I know that having been in an NFL locker room for 20 years, regardless of race, background, money you grew up with, we were all brothers no matter what,” Favre told USA Today Monday. “The guys got along really well. Will it be the same (with kneeling scenario)? I do not know. If one guy chooses to stand up for his cause and another chooses to kneel down for his cause, is one right and the other wrong? I do not believe. We tend to be set on the highs.

“I don’t know what it’s like to be Black. It is not for me to say what is right and what is wrong. I know we should all be treated equally. If you can’t do that, you shouldn’t be in America. “

Favre said he feels the camaraderie with his teammates in the locker room if there is an issue, but wonders if issues such as kneeling during the anthem could divide the players. When New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees said he would defend the anthem, he received a ton of backlash – even from his own teammates.

“There is no right answer,” the former quarterback told USA Today. “Other than, the correct answer is that we all get along. It seems the more people try, the greater the damage. “

Players must kneel during the national anthem. The NFL will also allow players to wear a decal of the names or initials of victims of police brutality or systemic racism.
