BREAKING: Washington RB Derrius Guice released after domestic violence arrest

Update: Derrius Guice is out

Derrius Guice’s NFL career has been marred by a string of injuries (3x in IR in 2 seasons), and now he’s got another kind of problem that could keep him off the field. The Washington Post reports that Guice was arrested on domestic violence charges, including one count of strangulation, a felony. He was also charged with three counts of assault and battery and one count of destruction of property.

Guice went to Loudoun Adult Detention Center at around 5 p.m. He was handcuffed in the facility’s parking lot before being taken inside.

The question now will be how Ron Rivera and the Washington football team will react to the latest arrest of a player this offseason. WR Cody Latimer signed a one-year contract and was arrested on assault and gun charges. He’s now on the commissioner’s exemption list, but the team have been silent on his status.

Derrius Guice declared himself in good health last week and is expected to play an important role in the attack on Washington. Charges of domestic assault don’t generally end well for players and their current teams, but we’ll have to wait and see how Rivera deals with Guice.
