Blue Jays Option Brandon Drury and Thomas Pannone

The Blue Jays have chosen infielder Brandon Drury to their alternative training location and downright hurler Thomas Pannone, Shi Davidi from Sportsnet Tweets. The Drury train creates space for newly acquired right-handers Taijuan Walker.

28-year-old Drury was a massive disappointment for Toronto purchasing him from the Yankees for left-handers YES Happ before the close of trading in July 2018. Drury, who had his moments with the Diamondbacks from 2015-17, struggled during his brief Yankees stint before they gave him up. His troubles continued as a member of Toronto’s squad as he owns a terrible .211 / .254 / .360 line with 15 home runs in 496 record appearances. Drurys minus 6 wRC + on 49 plate rides this year occupies fifth penultimate place among 300 big leaders who have accumulated at least 40 PA.

Left-handed Pannone, 26, has been pending since the Jays named him on Aug. 24, but he will stay with the organization after clearing the exemptions. Pannone, who posted an ERA / 5.14 FIP of 5.43 over 116 innings from 2018 to 2019, has not had much of a success this season.
