Athlete Gesa Krause ends her season

WOld-class runner Gesa Krause canceled her athletics season prematurely due to exhaustion. Almost three weeks after the German championships in Braunschweig, where the third place in the world championship had given up in the race over 3000 meters, the 28-year-old announced her decision on Thursday via Instagram.

“The year 2020 will stay in my memory forever, and I am certainly not the only one who has had it,” wrote the German record holder. The Olympic cancellation turned her life upside down. “For now, all I can say is that the past 23 months have been exhausting and I’ve used up my energy.” In the past almost two years, she only had a total of 14 days off.

The German title fights were an emotional blow, she confessed. But she doesn’t doubt her potential. “Rather, my dream is to continue to grow beyond myself, to work on myself and to realize my dream of an Olympic medal in the next year,” said the woman from Frankfurt. For this reason, she decided to “end the 2020 season and give me a break and a creative break”.
