Arsenal plan Ainsley Maitland-Niles transfers U-turn after best of match display

Arsenal may be ready to make a dramatic U-turn and keep Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has made it clear he wants to keep the 23-year-old whose form was rewarded with an England call-up.

The wolves have been chasing Maitland-Niles, have made a £ 15 million offer and want to return with a new offer that has left Arsenal fans in turmoil at the prospect of him leaving.

Maitland-Niles still has three years left for his current deal, it’s not one of the club’s best earnings, but his heroics could convince the club to give him a new contract rather than move to another club.

Former English under-21 midfielder Maitland-Niles has started all three Arsenal matches at Wembley and has excelled in the semi-finals and finals of the FA Cup, as well as in the Community Shield.

This shows Arteta’s confidence in Maitland-Niles and he wants to keep him rather than sell with Arsenal eager to balance the books this summer to bring in new faces.

Arteta has made public that Maitland-Niles is part of her plans and has now become a fan favorite.

It was a notable turnaround in fortunes for Maitland-Niles who seemed on the verge of leaving but fought and showed his commitment to the club.

Maitland-Niles is now focused exclusively on Arsenal, will ignore any transfer speeches and will focus solely on assigning a seat to the Emirates.

It was the versatility of Maitland-Niles – he can play in midfield and in the role of full-back – that attracted Arteta and must have had a say in Gareth Southgate calling him for England as well.

The graduate of the Maitland-Niles Academy, a member of the English under-17 team that won the World Cup in 2017, has made no secret of wanting to be part of the new generation of Arsenal young people who come with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah.
