Arsenal join the race for the Serie A creator who turned down Tottenham last year

Arsenal have joined the race for Udinese attacking midfielder Rodrigo De Paul, Italy reportedly.

At the age of 26, From Paul looks ready for a big move. He excelled in his four seasons in Serie A, scoring 25 goals in 146 games.

Seven of those goals came in the final Serie A season, in which De Paul also provided six assists.

Despite his contract still running until 2024, many in Italy believe this is the best chance for the Argentine international for a big move.

Indeed, Courier Of Sport (through Sports witness) state that Milan are seriously considering an offer. Juventus and Napoli also keep us.

However, the Italian newspaper adds that Arsenal have now entered the game. With doubts about the future of Dani Ceballos, De Paul could be a suitable replacement.

Originally a winger, De Paul has thrived in a more central role over the past year. The position allowed him to maintain his levels of creativity; contributed to more than a third of his team’s league goals in 2019-20.

Now, as Arsenal look to revamp their midfield, De Paul has emerged on their radar.

It is interesting to note that, last year he was linked to rivals Tottenham Hotspur. De Paul chose to stay at Udinese because he wanted to keep him “at all costs”, though.

One attacking midfielder who has already signed up for Emirates Stadium for next season is Willian.

The Brazilian was a free agent after leaving Chelsea, but remained in London to join city rivals.

Willian has signed a three-year deal with the Gunners. After the signing was made official, boss Mikel Arteta explained why he wanted to involve the 31-year-old.

“I think he’s a player who can really make a difference for us”, Arteta he said at Arsenal’s Official site.

We have been following him for months, we had the clear intention of strengthening the attacking midfielder and the wing positions. [and] he is a player who gives us a lot of versatility, he can play in three or four different positions “.
