Carlton has recruited two formidable recruits for a high-end crunch fight while Gold Coast commemorates two of its rested veteran stars.
The Blues win back Jack Martin (Kalb) to face his old team and Ruckman Marc Pittonet (Finger) for Friday night’s encounter, but lose Matt Kennedy to injury.

David Teague grew up, Mitch McGovern is still injured as Tom De Koning holds his place and may jerk next to Pittonet.
Gold Coast once again dropped leading goalkeeper Alex Sexton in 2019, while Brayden Fiorini and Nick Holman are also dropped.
Jarrod Harbrow and David Swallow are among the three inclusions after missing out on Monday’s loss to Richmond.
Team whispers for other games
GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY is ready to welcome back Toby Greene for a crunch collision with the west coast while Phil Davis is also a chance to return.
Greene paralyzed with a hamstring injury in the ninth round win over Gold Coast and has looked like a crucial loss since then as his side crossed the line against Essendon before being beaten by city rivals Sydney.
Davis failed to prove his suitability for the Sydney game after twisting his knee against Essendon.
However, coach Leon Cameron says Greene has recovered while Davis looks promising.
“We expect Toby Greene to be right and play. He had the full two weeks for a 1-2 week Achilles tendon,” he said on Thursday.
“Phil Davis did a practice session today and we’ll see him pull up.”
Cameron added the team have made changes to their “system” since losing to the Swans.
“We had a week to think about it and we’re the ones to make it, so we’re looking forward to the challenge on Sunday. There were some house truths, we trained well today and will be leaving on Saturday, ”he said.
“Our players are a little confident, we can do it, but we need a better system and we have been working on that this week. We have the opportunity against the Eagles to correct the injustice. “
meanwhile FREMANTLE will reveal exciting conscripts Liam Henry against Sydney this week.
The much-noticed striker was accepted as a member of the Next Generation Academy with Pick 9 in last year’s national draft.
He will be the Dockers’ sixth debutant this year after top ten peers Caleb Serong and Hayden Young as well as Michael Frederick, Sam Sturt and Tobe Watson were selected.
RICHMOND star Dion Prestia had a “minor procedure on his injured ankle” which the club classified as a “minor setback” in its offer for an AFL return.
The club confirmed that Prestia’s wound had an infection that was treated with a small arthroscope.
In better news for the club, star defenders Bachar Houli will have his AFL return while on Saturday Jack Riewoldt plays despite minor concerns about a knock on the head that requires stitches.
GEELONG are set to be without a skipper Joel Selwood for Sunday’s game against Adelaide, in which the 32-year-old “has a little problem that could cost him about a week”.
Cat trainer Chris Scott confirmed the news during his weekly press conference Thursday.
“We manage (Selwood), he’s not sure to play this week,” he said.
“He’s got a little problem that could cost him about a week. We’re in a phase of the season right now with some short breaks where it would be crazy to push him if we’d like to see him in consecutive games in a final series. “
The cats did not rule out abandoning a tall man Esava Ratugolea for a fourth game in a row on the sidelines after suffering from adductor pain after an initial break.
“We intended to play (Ratugolea) in week three but he just got a little pain later in the week and we thought it was too much of a risk,” said Scott.
“He looks good now, but he’s not certain. I would have thought if it was available we would probably play it. “
Luke Dahlhaus is available for selection after the little striker sustained a heel injury in round 7.
Jack Steven will return to the page while Brad Close remains in the selection mix.
HAWTHORN took another injury hit against a star, which the club revealed Jaeger O’Meara broke his hand during Sunday’s West Coast loss.
The club’s physical performance manager Luke Boyd said, “We’ll reevaluate next week and see if he’s available to play.”
It adds to a week of horror that the club confirms the defender James Sicily broke his ACL and will begin a 12 month rehab period.
In better news for the hawks Isaac Smith is listed as a “test” for this week’s game against Leader Port Adelaide after suffering a shoulder injury in the eleventh round against Fremantle.
