United players will return for pre-season training next week which means Wan-Bissaka will miss the start of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team preparations for next season.

Old Trafford officials provided all their players with a travel guide at the end of the season, detailing where they could travel without being quarantined upon return.

Wan-Bissaka may now be in hot water when he returns to Manchester after appearing to ignore their advice.

When they travel with their clubs to compete or officially train, players are protected by “elite sports” protocols, which means they are not required to quarantine on return.

But the UK government has confirmed that Wan-Bissaka would be required to isolate himself when he returns home because he is not training or officially competing with United in Dubai.

According to the government’s official website, Wan-Bissaka was supposed to produce a negative reading of the Covid test 96 hours after arriving in the UAE.

United will test the defender as soon as possible upon his return to the UK.

Wan-Bissaka has been training individually during his time in Dubai while keeping fit before the next campaign.

However, his pending absence from the opening days of United’s pre-season training program will frustrate manager Solskjaer.

Wan-Bissaka was not included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for next month’s matches against Iceland and Denmark.

But even if he was selected on Tuesday, the 22-year-old’s decision to fly to Dubai effectively ruled him out of contention for international service due to his quarantine period.
