2020 PGA Championship Standings: Latest Scores and Standings from Sunday | Bleacher report

Jeff Chiu / Associated Press

Dustin Johnson and the rest of the favorites to win the 2020 PGA Championship could produce low rounds on Sunday at TPC Harding Park.

Golfers already on the course have exploited the positions and conditions of the pins for a few hours.

Ryan Palmer and Jordan Spieth were the first two players to finish with below average rounds, as they teamed up to go nine under.

Tiger Woods, Erik Van Rooyen, Louis Oosthuizen, and others recorded more birdies during their final rounds.

Johnson will play alongside Scottie Scheffler at 4:50 pm ET. Two-time defending champion Brooks Koepka will start 20 minutes ahead of them as he tries to make up for the two-stroke gap between him and Johnson.

Palmer and Spieth set the tone for what could be a round that features a plethora of birdies from top players.

Palmer used an eagle at number 16 and birdies on the last two holes to tie the best round of the week at 64.

Spieth put five birdies on his final scorecard at TPC Harding Park, but he had a couple of bugbears that limited him to throwing a 67.

After experimenting with the conditions and locations of the pins, Spieth predicted that one player would shoot 30 out of the last nine, according to Golf Channel’s Will Gray:

The one hole Spieth did not describe as “throwable” produced the best moment of the final round so far.

Byeong Hun An produced a hole-in-one at 11th par 3. As there are few people on the field reacting to such a shot, it took a moment for An to realize that the ball had fallen into the hole. .

The eagle at n. 11 joined four birdies out of the top nine of the South Korean, who is one of the top players in the current ranking.

Tiger Woods’ pairing with Tom Hoge also produced a fair share of fireworks. The duo scored six birds out of the first nine.

Woods is back on par with a bugbear at No. 8, but he’s playing pretty well and is in the mix for a top 40 finish.

Although there are a lot of low scores going on, some players still have a hard time.

Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson have lost more hits and are about to finish at the bottom of the leaderboard.
