Trainer Dieter Hecking and Hamburger SV, who are looking for a way out of the crisis after the missed promotion, are going separate ways. The club’s problems go deep – and affect other people as well.
Dieter Hecking had a clear plan for the talks with HSV sports director Jonas Boldt on Wednesday. Hecking had been at home in Ohndorf near Bad Nenndorf three days earlier. Also to analyze the failed season: fourth place in the second Bundesliga? How did this drop in performance come about? Nine points from the last ten games, culminating in the system crash on matchday 34 in the 1: 5 against SV Sandhausen? Why had almost all top players got heavy legs in the season finale?

The HSV is said to have offered him – and has rejected Hecking. His contract expired on June 30th. There will be no new contract with HSV, the club confirmed on Saturday afternoon. “We didn’t achieve the goal we were aiming for. I take responsibility for this, ”Hecking is quoted in a statement by the HSV. The next candidate is Dimitrios Grammozis, 41 years old, former HSV professional, most recently coach of SV Darmstadt 98.
