Timo Werner decided to reject Liverpool, and chose Chelsea as his new club. The decision was considered appropriate, why?
Werner was originally linked to Liverpool, who this season came out as Premier League champions. However, the RB Leipzig striker was finally anchored to Chelsea.
There is an assumption that Werner’s decision is correct. Rejecting Liverpool and moving to Chelsea is said to help him develop.
Liverpool itself already has a trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. All three became the backbone of the Reds won the Champions League and English League trophies, so Werner is believed to be in trouble if he moved there.
“If Liverpool is really the choice, he makes a very good decision, and only he can make such a decision,” said ex-German and Chelsea player Michael Ballack. Daily Star.
“You have to assess certain things, such as how much time you play and how important the role of the squad you have. Liverpool have won the Champions League and the Premier League. How can Timo expect to come and compete with Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane?”
“Chelsea are building a young team, a new team, with a young coach. A good project to be a part of, considering how young Timo is. Being a main striker, at a big club like Chelsea, is the best place for him,” Ballack explained.
Werner, who has scored 34 goals and 13 assists this season, is believed to shine more at Chelsea than Liverpool. His arrival also made Frank Lampard’s squad more competitive.
“He can have a far greater impact than he can at Liverpool. Although Liverpool and Manchester City’s squad are much stronger than others, Chelsea are starting to make very competitive teams,” Ballack continued.
“That will take time. Timo is only part of the trip,” he explained.
