Los Angeles Lakers’ Jared Dudley believes the team needs his center Dwight Howard who has yet to confirm his willingness to restart the league.
Howard recently lost his mother. He also previously spoke out against the resumption of the league saying it could be a distraction from the ongoing protests against issues in society. Speaking to reporters during a Zoom call, his teammate Dudley believed that the team needed him. However, he also respected Howard’s decision and was ready to accept it even if he chose not to play.
“Hopefully Dwight will arrive. We need Dwight “ Dudley said (H / T Silverscreen and Roll).
“They are my friends, we are all good friends … One thing you have to respect in life is the family, regardless. Everyone’s family is so different. Obviously both have different perspectives and different things. We respect him.”
“For us, life is more important. We would like to have them, but I have no bad will for anyone who wants to sit outside. Personally, where I am, I feel comfortable. It would be different if my wife didn’t want me to leave, but it’s a little different for them. “
The Lakers will be without Avery Bradley who has already confirmed his unavailability. The Lakers also signed JR Smith to replace Bradley. The Lakers have yet to make a decision on Howard and Dudley believed there was still hope that he could return.
“It will be a little different without Avery, or with any potentially non-teammate present, but Dwight I know there is still hope and still possibility”, Dudley said. “Hope to see him over there.”
Los Angeles Lakers will aim for the championship
The Lakers were among the best teams when the NBA suspended its league. They were on top of the Western Conference with 49 wins. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the team, the Lakers have looked good to win their first championship since 2010.
The Lakers will restart the NBA season with a game against the Los Angeles Clippers. They have a five-game cushion compared to Clippers in second place and should be able to finish on top of the Western Conference.
