Group stage at the OGA Dota PIT Season 2: The Chinese event ended today with two teams eliminated from the tournament and six move on to the playoff phase.
After EHOME and Invictus Gaming conquered their groups flawlessly, there were still two points for each group available in the playoff phase, all finalized today. With PSG.LGD knocking down CDEC Gaming yesterday, before CDEC had won on Vici Gaming, VG and LGD fought for the team that would have been eliminated and made the playoffs. With their late form with some ups and downs, LGD succumbed to VG, losing in two rather quick games – barely having the upper hand for more than a few moments in the early bouts.
The victory will see VG in second place in Group A, while CDEC in third place and, unfortunately for PSG.LGD, their fourth place sees them eliminated from the event. In group B, Royal Never Give Up was able to quickly do the work of Team Aster in the opening series, securing second place for himself.
The Asters now had the job of beating Sparking Arrow Gaming if they kept their tournament hopes alive. While in recent times we have witnessed some incredible performances by SAG, today he was not one of those as they found themselves far behind their opponents and losing 0-2. The Asters, with their first victory, would have managed to move on to the playoff phase, while the SAG would have been eliminated.
The playoff phase kicks off tomorrow with all the teams moving to the high end for now – EHOME and iG take a little break as they skip the first round of the high end.
