These bears are ready for an escape season in 2020

The Chicago Bears have just had a disappointing 2019 season, which included a record of 8-8 and third place in the NFC North. A number of factors contributed to the decline, including the offense.

But Chicago is looking to bounce back in 2020, and they will need several players to really step it up in order to do it. Not only the veterans, but some of the young talents who seemed ready to make their mark in the NFL.

Our Bears Wire staff share their thoughts on Bears players who are about to have a year of escape in 2020.

There is no better time for Anthony Miller to make a statement than in his third season. With the release of Taylor Gabriel, an outlaw veteran, Miller instantly fulfills this No. 2 role against Allen Robinson. Although Miller has had his share of injury problems – he just had a second right shoulder operation – there is every reason to believe that Miller is ready for a year of escape.

After a slow start to his second season – which included a slow exit on the offensive – when the Bears’ offensive started to heat up, that’s when Miller shone. Case in point, a five-game streak where he totaled 33 receptions for 431 yards and two touchdowns in weeks 11-15. Miller ended the year with 52 receptions for 656 yards and two scores. With an extra year of offensive experience from Matt Nagy and what will certainly be a better quarterback game – whether from Mitchell Trubisky or Nick Foles – Miller is well positioned to establish himself as the most Chicago’s No. 2 broad player.
