A Manchester United fan gave a sigh of relief after betting a whopping £ 55,000 in Liverpool to win the Premier League.
Bradford’s Tony Ward was waiting for Jurgen Klopp’s men to seal their first crown for thirty years after playing his legacy in March.
The 55-year-old raised his £ 91,000 winnings after the Reds were crowned champions last month after placing the 4/6 odds bet.
Ward inherited £ 55,000 when his mother, Rose, passed away in 2017 and, despite being a lifelong fan of the Red Devils, has taken the big step to hit the money on Liverpool’s bitter rivals to win the championship.
He said to The Sun: “Liverpool always seemed like they could win the title. I chose them after a long, long debate. “
Ward, who calls himself a fan of United’s “armchair,” had a three-month wait before his bet came after football was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
He said: “I would have recovered my mail, I believe, if the season had been canceled. But it would have been unfair.

Ward also revealed that he is planning a trip abroad with his winnings, with the rest destined to be replenished in his bank.
He added: “I want a great vacation. The rest is for a rainy day. “
Ward also claimed that his mother would have no problem with him risking the money with the bet.
She concluded: “You wouldn’t have minded what I did with the money – not at all. She liked a beat!
“She liked horses. But I’d give it all back to still have my mom around. “
