The Norwegian manager believes that, given the right support, his young strikers can continue to do great things in the club
Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood are the city’s toast at Old Trafford right now, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans to give the prodigious trio all the freedom to match the exploits of another famous attack line from the Manchester United.
The young attackers – Martial is the elder of 24 years, while Greenwood is still three months behind his 19th birthday – have caused a storm for United since the Premier League resumed in June following the interruption caused by the pandemic of coronavirus.
Skillfully aided by the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba in form further back, the three of them scored nine goals in five league games to inspire the new Red Devils, who scored 15 in the same time frame to record four wins and a draw to strengthen their first four push.

The stellar flagship lines are nothing new for the club, from the legends of the 60s George Best, Bobby Charlton and Denis Law to the most recent partnership forged between Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez which has helped to guarantee the glory of the Champions League in 2007-8.
And Solskjaer believes that, like those illustrious predecessors, United’s new supporters must temper their freedom with discipline in order to continue taking the world by storm.
“This is nothing new for United,” the Norwegian said when asked by reporters whether artists of the caliber of Barcelona’s famous MSN trident were inspirational for his young stars.
“Didn’t you watch Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez while they played, when Sir Alex Ferguson gave them some freedom but within a structure and structure?
“So we work a lot on patterns and positions and where we want the players to be.
“But within that we understand that you may appear left or right, or be in different positions, but we have to fill different positions.
“There have been too many players who want to gravitate to the left last year, sometimes this year, and go there and play tippy football.
“This is something we wanted to eliminate and we have been more progressive and more disciplined in our positions.”
Greenwood in particular distinguished himself in the weeks following the restart of the Premier League, scoring four times in the last three starts to make an automatic choice for Solskjaer.
The manager has no doubts about his potential and has invited him to continue working hard to increase his already impressive milestone.
“I’ve said it many times, it can go all the way,” he added. “He has the talent to go so far and is creating opportunities himself.
“Our job is to get him to positions where he can end up, because he hits the target.
“He will make the goalkeeper work, so he continues to give him chances and he has the chance to score more.”
