Sheila Avils, the world champion who trains on the Costa Brava

The Costa Brava, sea and mountains; This is well known to a large number of athletes, both amateur and elite, who come to the area to perform their workouts. Among them is the runner Sheila Avilés, the winner of the Skyrunner world series in 2017 and 2019 in Sky Classic mode. The 27-year-old runner, born in Santa Margarida de Montbui (l’Anoia), has been training -of the two she has planned- on the Costa Brava for almost a month, enjoying the combination of sea and mountain and exploring new routes in the waiting for an uncertain future.

Avilés, during his training camp in Sant Feliu de Guíxols he has been seen training in different locations, for example, in the Ardennes massif, also known as the Cadiretes massif.

Beyond the Skyrunner World Series, Avilés has a very extensive track record, which also highlights the silver medal won at the World Mountain Running Championships in 2019. This year, however, one of the great dominators of the female panorama in distances of between 20 and 40 kilometers, it is not being able to enjoy, as in previous years, a hanging bib, as the suspended racing calendar is dominated by suspended signs due to the current global health situation related to Covid-19; and the future is uncertain.

One of the first races to be held, with the confirmed participation of Sheila Avilés, was the Lloret de Mar Trail last Sunday 26 July. But like Avilés, the 800 runners who hoped to be able to compete for the first time after the confinement – coming out with a mask and in a staggered way – saw how the organizers of the club La Sansi finally decided to suspend the race. Avilés, currently without a number, will continue to enjoy for a while the new normality and the workouts on the Costa Brava.

???? LOOKS ???? Another week enjoying the Costa Brava and training again. A somewhat strange year, time flies by and we are still unable to lead a “normal” life or rather a life similar to what we had in the past, perhaps this is going to be our new “normality”? These months have made us evolve as people, we all have had something removed from the inside and we have begun to value things that we did not pay attention to before, since it was easy to have by hand. Was it easy to go for a walk and breathe fresh air, was it normal to meet friends for coffee? or dance in beach bars with the waves of the sea? near. This is how we humans are, we learn to value when things are taken from us and we begin to miss them. It also happens to all athletes when we have a simple injury, you complain that you are tired, that you are lazy to sometimes go out to train, until suddenly you are injured and you can not even run 10 ‘in a row without pain. One more learning, right? #reflexiones #sheilaaviles #adidasterrex #portrait # covid19

??TO STRUGGLE?? Face all your fears, all your challenges, all your dreams. Stand up to each battle and keep fighting for what you love, for change, for wanting to get the best version of yourself, keep polishing the diamond? raw. Fall and rise stronger, accept yourself, love yourself with your strengths and weaknesses and make the people next to you feel comfortable with your company, who love you just as you are, just as imperfect as all of us in this planet ?? #followed #trailrun #sheilaaviles #fight #skyrunning #adidasterrex
