Sania Mirza on Bond with Shoaib Malik

High-profile athletes in their respective countries, India Sania Mirza and Pakistani Shoaib Malik, are not only doing hard work on the field, but also outside of it, especially after becoming proud parents.

They married in 2010 and gave birth to their son Izhaan in 2018, with Sania Mirza returning to court earlier this season before the coronavirus pandemic brought life around the world to a standstill.

According to Sania, it is the discipline that has been practiced in them thanks to their respective sports that has helped make life a little easier with their difficult programs.

Tennis requires a lot of discipline, just like cricket. It requires a lot of undivided attention, “she said in an Instagram Live session hosted by her husband Shoaib Malik.

“When we decided to get married, I had a wrist injury at the time and, at that point, honestly, I didn’t think I would play tennis anymore.

“I had taken six months of vacation and when I returned to Wimbledon, I felt that nothing really changed,” Sania told Shoaib.

“I felt that you (Shoaib) were supportive because you came from the same type of background, you had to devote yourself to the same type of hard work and dedication.

“You (Shoaib) have never made me feel that since we are married, I would have limited responsibilities, that I cannot spend so much time on my profession or tennis. So, I don’t think much has changed. ”

Sania talks about an understanding attitude and explains that it is the key to making the relationship work, despite the background and the time spent aside.

“It depends on the individual, it depends on the relationship, on your understanding, on how you have been tuned in the relationship,” Sania reasoned.

“We knew from before that if we had to continue our relationship, this would have involved many trips, being in high pressure jobs and something that is not under our control many times.

“We didn’t know it in any other way, we are lucky to have found and understood our lives and professions before getting married and adapting to it”.
