Actually there is calm in the stadiums during ghost games. But not in the relegation second leg between Heidenheim and Werder. There, a stadium visitor ceaselessly bludgeons on a frying pan.
Es There has been a ghostly atmosphere in the stadiums of the Bundesliga in recent weeks. The instructions of the coaches could be heard over the outside microphones and the cheers of the players clearly heard from one another. Then nothing. The ghost games after the Corona break caused football to shrink to its minimum. Except for the players, coaches and a few officials, nobody was allowed in the arenas. The fans had to stay outside.
So of course also in the relegation between Werder Bremen and 1. FC Heidenheim. After the 0-0 in the first leg, Werder will fight for relegation on Monday evening, Heidenheim for the first Bundesliga promotion in club history. Although the all-important game is also a ghost game, the 22 players on the lawn are permanently sonicated. Not just them, but also the viewers who watch the game live on the Internet at DAZN and Amazon Prime Video.
A Heidenheimer sits on the bleachers, armed with a pan and a club with which he keeps hitting the kitchen utensil. The man with the black chef’s jacket keeps on hitting the same rhythm. At the end, fans would traditionally have to shout “Heidenheim”. But there are none in the stadium. That doesn’t seem to bother the drummer, then he just starts over. Again and again. The man is supported by a woman who is also armed with a silver pan.
Also to the dismay of DAZN co-commentator Ralph Gunesch. “Everything is regulated in the Bundesliga. How big the banners for the away blocks have to be and much more. I am certain that there will be a passage in the coming season that will ban kitchen appliances in the stadium, ”said Gunesch.
The frying pan fan quickly made the rounds on Twitter. With a wink, many called for an international stadium ban for him.
DAZN commentator Uli Hebel puts it in a nutshell: “There are things I am not sad about when this game is over.”
