Disadvantaged first, Manchester United successfully turned things around in round I vs Southampton. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial put MU 2-1 up.
Entertaining Southampton at Old Trafford in the English League continued on Tuesday (07/14/2020) early morning hrs, MU missed in the 12th minute. Triggered by Paul Pogba’s mistake, Stuart Armstrong broke into David de Gea’s goal.
MU does not take too long to respond. Rashford’s strike in the 20th minute equalized, followed by Martial’s goal which reversed the situation three minutes later.

The course of the match
MU immediately get a chance in the 10th minute, the result of a Southampton defense error. James Ward-Prowse loses the ball when he receives a pass as the last player and Anthony Martial takes possession.
Staying facing the goalkeeper, Martial failed to strike the ball. His kick was held by Alex McCarthy, who first moved forward to close the shooting room.
Two minutes later, it was MU’s turn to make mistakes and Southampton did not waste it. Paul Pogba lost control in front of the penalty box under the pressure of Danny Ings.
Ings goes to Nathan Redmond, who then sends a cross to Stuart Armstrong on the right. Armstrong calmly conquered David de Gea from close range.
MU had scored a goal in the 17th minute. Luke Shaw stabbed in the left and released a cross which was finished by Marcus Rashford. But the linesman had raised Rashford’s flag offside.
Three minutes later, MU really made a goal. Building an attack from the right, the ball is controlled by Pogba who then releases a cross into the center of the penalty box.
Martial controlled it well, then passed to Rashford on the left side because he was surrounded by three players. Rashford finished with a loud shot.
GOAL! MU reversed his position in the 23rd minute through a neat attack scheme. Pogba’s pass from the middle was received by Fernandes, who passed it on to Martial on the left hand side. The Frenchman moved to cut in the middle, then shot with his right foot into the top left corner of the goal.
MU spread another threat in the 28th minute. Pogba directs a shot straight from the front of the penalty box, but McCarthy can still be driven away.
Martial’s turn to try to target Southampton from the front of the penalty box in the 32nd minute. His efforts soared far from the target.
MU continues to control the ball comfortably, but has not been able to create dangerous opportunities. While Southampton are still having trouble developing the game. The first half ended 2-1 for Manchester United.
