PSG replied to the Lyon chief for claiming that Neymar had signed for money

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo reacted to Lyon boss Juninho after claiming that Neymar joined the Ligue 1 champions “because of the money”.

Neymar, 28, signed for PSG from Barcelona in 2017 for a record transfer fee of € 222 million and has won three consecutive titles in the French capital.

The striker was close to reuniting in Barcelona last summer and former Brazilian international Juninho said Neymar must show more than the club.

“Look at Neymar,” he said to the Guardian. “He only moved to PSG because of the money. PSG gave him everything, everything he wanted, and now he wants to leave before the end of his contract.

“But now is the time to give back, to show gratitude. It’s an exchange, you see. Neymar needs to give everything he can on the field, to show total dedication, responsibility and leadership.

“The problem is that the plant in Brazil has a culture of greed and always wants more money. This is what we have been taught and what we have learned.”

Leonardo from PSG responded and urged the Lyon council to focus on their club.

“I don’t understand why Aulas talks so much about PSG and Juninho now talks about PSG and Neymar,” he told RMC Sport. “It would be better to talk about their club.

“We are not talking about the situation in Lyon and I ask OL not to talk about our players and our club.”

PSG prepares to return to action when they face Saint-Etienne in the French Cup final on 24 July.
