Every Footy Club wants a passionate fan base. People in the stands who get a little hoarse when they drive every bump with their team.

The passion to get up from your seat and yell at either an opposing player or the referee is part of the game.

Some fans are a little more passionate than others, and West Coast fans are at the top of the stack when it comes to wearing their hearts on their sleeves.

In the middle of the second quarter of the Eagles’ win against Collingwood over the weekend, Magpie Will Hoskin-Elliott received a free kick just outside the gate that got under the skin of West Coast believers.

After Hoskin-Elliot really kicked to get the pies in the lead, the cameras turned to the stands where a fan blew up like a king.

Shortly after the angry fan stole the show, eagle-eyed viewers quickly pointed out that he may be the same person involved in another famous Footy spit.

Already in 2006, during another epic encounter between Sydney and the West Coast, an iconic image of the AFL passion emerged.

Swan star Michael O’Loughlin lost five points and ended a brilliant game passage to score and give the swans the lead and a home pre-final.

After O’Loughlin kicked into the West Coast Cheer Squad, he faced the front row fans who made no move backwards.

Sitting on the fence and giving it back to O’Loughlin was a man with a mustache, and fans speculated it was the same Eagles supporter this weekend.

Based on the evidence presented, it is difficult to argue that it is not the same man. Unless, of course, he has an identical twin brother.

This bulging vein in the neck in both scenes is a pretty strong indication that the theory has substance.

Fortunately, the Eagles have responded emphatically on both occasions.

In 2006, although the Eagles lost the qualifying final, they overthrew the Swans in the Grand Final.

And on the weekend after Collingwood took the lead, the Eagles kicked 13 of the next 14 goals and started fourth in the AFL rankings.
