The Eagles believed that Philadelphia’s ban on major public events and rallies until February would not apply to them. The city believes it.

“We have been in communication with the Eagles. We told them our expectations were that they had no fans, “Philadelphia general manager Brian Albernathy said on Tuesday Philadelphia inquirer.

The Eagles had interpreted media reports preceding Tuesday’s announcement to mean that it did not apply to stadiums like Lincoln Financial Field, even though they thought it belonged to the city.

The Eagles will be allowed to play in Philadelphia, but in the absence of fans. Abernathy added that he is not expecting any problems, as NFL guidelines “remind teams that local authorities have the ability to ban fans”.
