Pay has spent most of his tenure removing a salary cap left by the Des Hasler regime, and on the eve of season two, two of his best players – Jayden Okunbor and Corey Harawira-Naera – were deregistered by the NRL.
Ironically, Pay decided to stop on the day their registrations were restored.

The payment is expected to be replaced by Trent Barrett after the Penrith assistant coach has been given permission by the Panthers to speak to the dogs.
But that has not been well received by many commentators, fans and journalists on social media.
“I think there will be a big announcement tomorrow and Dean will have coached his last game for the Bulldogs,” said Phil Gould 100% Footy.
“He took the job out of loyalty to the club because he was in a precarious situation.
“There wouldn’t have been too many other established coaches who would have done what he did.
“I would think Dean would probably see the writing on the wall and I would imagine that this was his call.”
meanwhile, The reporter Jelisa Apps went to Twitter and said: “Dean Pay was given an absolute Sh * t sandwich that he could take care of until 2021 when they could be competitive again. Bulldogs Should Go Right Dean Pay apologizes for the years of disastrous backend contracts that have given you a cluster in your tenure, have a year with the roster of your choice and we’ll reassess it. “

Guardian Meanwhile, columnist Nick Tedeschi questioned Canterbury’s wisdom about persecuting Trent Barrett.
“If Canterbury thinks Trent Barrett is the right answer, the club is more busy than ever since Bullfrog came on board. It’s one of the most absurd stupid decisions in a club with a recent history of really stupid decisions, ”he wrote on Twitter.

“Dean Pay is a proud person who got a job with little advantage and little support to actually improve the team this season. I cannot blame him for his resignation after he was allegedly told that he would not be a coach next season, ”Gottlieb tweeted.

Many quickly praised Pay and fans were tough on the club’s executive.
Good for him! I got a low-paid dud squad with one player getting a million dollars and playing only 36 games. What do you expect?..

From a “family club” in the 80s with Hughes and Mortimers, Bullfrog, Folkesy etc. to what he has been standing for recently in Coffs Harbor, Port Macquarie, CEOs who are leaving the board, board factions etc. and now le asvn Coach Pay out in the cold to defend yourself; bad culture.

Barrett will be able to use another 3 mills next year. Something that Pay never had. Don’t accuse him of going away. A fix that the bulldogs are.
