Nuggets to know

1. The Bills acquired the Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs during the off season. Since entering the league in 2015 from Maryland, Diggs has 365 receptions (15th in the NFL) and 4,263 receiving yards (14th) in the regular season, more than any receiver for Bills in that period.

2. Josh Allen enters his third season under central Buffalo. Last season, Allen improved his completion percentage and hit-intercept rate, but despite this improvement, Allen’s QBR returned to 47 in 2019, 24th out of 30 quarterbacks.

3. While the Bills had offensive challenges, their defense was one of the best in the NFL last season. They ranked in the top five in terms of points and yards allowed as well as defensive efficiency. Buffalo will bring back 10 of its 11 defensive starters from last season, preparing for another solid season under the coordination of Leslie Frazier.

Nuggets to know

1. With the fifth pick in the NFL draft in 2020, the Dolphins selected former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa is recovering from a serious hip injury suffered last season. The two seasons of Tagovailoa as a quarterback from Alabama were among the best we have seen. Since ESPN’s Total QBR started in 2004, no college football player has had a higher career Total QBR than Tagovailoa (93.5). Something to note: between 1967 (the first year of the joint project) and 2019, 53 QB were ranked among the top five. Only three of them failed to start at least one match in their rookie season. And of the 50 that started, 39 did so before week 6, including 26 during week 1.

2. After finishing last at AFC East last season, the Dolphins spent a lot of free agency money to fill a number of holes. Miami led the NFL in free agency spending during the offseason, giving $ 147 million guaranteed, including $ 119 million in defense, to coach Brian Flores. The Dolphins struggled to defend the pass in 2019, ranking 26th in yards by authorized passes, Xavien Howard cornerback being limited to just five games. However, the team overhauled this unit during the off-season, signing former Cowboys halfback Byron Jones for a $ 82.5 million five-year contract and drafting Auburn CB Noah Igbinoghene with their third and last choice in the first round.

3. The Dolphins used a lot of resources during this off season to help their offensive line. Miami finished last in the NFL in terms of block win rates (41.2%), almost 5% lower than any other team, according to NFL Next Gen Stats data. The Dolphins spent $ 33 million on free agency on their offensive line (fifth most in the NFL) and recruited four offensive liners.
