New contract for the player: Pierre Pujol stays with the BR Volleys – Sport

The Berlin volleyball Bundesliga club BR Volleys continues to rely on the French player Pierre Pujol as a second player. The 36-year-old signed another one-year contract with the ten-time German champion until 2021. The club announced on Thursday.

Last season, Pujol mostly had to give way to Russian world-class player Sergei Grankin. The 1.85 meter tall Pujol, born in Bordeaux, played for the BR Volleys for the first time in the 2017/18 season. At that time he was still the number one player and immediately became a German Champion. After a one-year trip to GFC Ajaccio in his home country, he returned to Berlin in 2019.

With Grankin and Pujol, the BR Volleys also want to cause a stir in the Champions League in the coming season. “With this pair of players, we don’t have to hide from any opponents internationally,” said manager Kaweh Niroomand. The fact that the end of his career as a volleyball professional is slowly beginning to show for Pujol at the age of 36 does not bother him much. “I want to play volleyball as long as I enjoy it and I totally do that at the BR Volleys, ”he said.
