Mbappe of PSG has less than 3 weeks to recover for the Atalanta game

Parisian Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbapp has less than three weeks to recover from a heavily sprained ankle to face Atalanta in the Champions League quarter-finals.

PSG plays the Italian team with a free score on August 12 in Lisbon as part of the eight-game knockout format of the final, which ends with the final on August 23. PSG is already without striker Edinson Cavani, who did not renew his contract when it expired at the end of June.

Mbapp injured injured in the first half of a 1-0 win over Saint-tienne in the French Cup final on Friday evening, and watched the rest of the game off the bench with a foot brace. He left the Stade de France on crutches.

PSG said in a brief statement on Saturday that Mbapp’s severe sprained right ankle will be reevaluated within three days of further testing.

Loc Perrin, mid-center of Saint-Tienne, was expelled in the 30th minute for having awkwardly thrown him down as he ran past, and Mbapp’s right ankle seemed to tie under him.

It just broke down a bit, Mbapp told French President Emmanuel Macron after the final as PSG players were about to collect their medals.

Perrin’s foul was badly timed rather than mischievous, and the veteran defender was clearly concerned when Mbapp twisted on the ground. He accompanied Mbapp as he left the camp.

Saint-tienne sent Mbapp best wishes for a speedy recovery in a Tweet on Saturday, to which the French star responded positively.

But PSG coach Thomas Tuchel claimed that the referee failed to protect his players and was angry at Saint-tienne’s approach.

Anyone who sees such a foul is worried. Of course I’m worried, Tuchel said after the game.

It is our third game against Saint-tienne and the third red card they received in the first 30 minutes. It is not because they are tired. Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini also loved Mbapp.

I sincerely hope it is not too serious, even if it seems to be so for the moment, said Gasperini. Mbapp is a fantastic, world-class player.

PSG can complete a domestic triple if they beat Lyon in Friday’s European Cup final.
