Manchester City winger Leroy Sane Immediately Secure € 60 Million Transfer to Bayern Munich

Sane is getting closer to reaching the Bundesliga champions after refusing a contract extension with City.

Winger Manchester City Leroy Sane immediately moved to Bayern Munich after both clubs agreed to a transfer of € 60 million (£ 54.8 million / $ 67 million).

The Bundesliga champion will pay an initial fee of € 49 million (£ 44.7 million / $ 55 million) for the German international, with an additional € 11 million. In addition, City has also included a resale clause valued at ten percent.

Sane, who is in the final year of his contract at City, will fly to Munich in the next 24 hours to complete his move and he is not expected to strengthen City again this season.

The 24-year-old will sign a five-year contract believed to be worth € 22 million (£ 20.1 million / $ 24.7 million) per year, more than City prepared.

City itself has offered the former Schalke player a new contract, but was rejected, and they are believed to be happy with the sales money amid uncertainty surrounding the transfer market due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on football finances.

Sane missed most of the season through injury but he was one of the key players when City won treble domestic last year.

City manager Pep Guardiola recently admitted he was disappointed because Sane had refused a new contract with the club.

“I was very disappointed,” Pep said. “When we made the offer, it was because we wanted it; he has special qualities that are hard to find.

“We tried [memperpanjang kontraknya] before the injury, surgery and after, but he refused the offer. He has other desires and I understand, [tetapi] we want players who want to be committed and achieve our targets.

“I love him very much, he’s amazing, I’m not against him – he wants another adventure.”

Sane was in the middle of a club transfer saga last summer, but he suffered a serious knee injury at the Community Shield in August.

Bayern decided not to bring it in January, with Sane still recovering from the injury that has lost him most of the season.

His only appearance since August last year was a ten-minute cameo in the 5-0 win over Burnley last June.

Sane joined City in August 2016 from Schalke in a deal worth € 52 million (£ 37 million / $ 46 million).
