Manchester City agreed £ 41m for Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake

Manchester City has agreed a £ 41m fee with Bournemouth to sign defender Nathan Ake, the PA news agency understands.

The deal has a guaranteed £ 40m worth of descending cherries, which may increase by £ 1m.

Dutch international Ake has been an outstanding player at the Vitality Stadium since moving from Chelsea to Chelsea in 2017. He was previously on loan from Eddie Howe.

It was expected that there would be strong interest in the 25-year-old this summer. His departure became almost inevitable when the descent from Bournemouth was confirmed last weekend.

It goes without saying that City is the only club that has made an offer so far. Ake missed the Cherries’ last three Premier League games after suffering a groin injury in a 4-1 win over Leicester on July 12.

City is in the market for a central defender after surrendering the title to Liverpool. Star defender Aymeric Laporte missed a large part of the season due to injury, while England international John Stones seems to have fallen out of favor with coach Pep Guardiola.

Ake, who played 13 caps, played 121 games for Bournemouth, scoring eleven goals.

Cherry boss Howe had little interest in discussing Ake’s future before the end of the Premier League season.

When asked if the player might have finally appeared for the South Coast Club after an injury to the Foxes, Howe replied, “I think it would be stupid for me to comment on this at this moment, to be honest time.

“I think next season and everything beyond that will take care of itself.”

The city is also involved in advanced negotiations with Valencia on signing 20-year-old winger Ferran Torres.

The Premier League team is believed to have agreed a base fee of £ 20.9 million with Valencia and talks about possible add-ons will continue.

After Leroy Sane left Bayern Munich, City is also on the market for a new winger.

Spanish Under-21 international Torres is an attractive proposition as the player enters the last year of their contract and the fee can be kept relatively low.
