Man City star Phil Foden sends a message to Angel Gomes after Manchester United’s release

Manchester City star Phil Foden wished Angel Gomes luck for the rest of his career after deciding to leave Manchester United.

Gomes left Old Trafford with nine other Academy graduates in late June, when his contract expired after deciding to decline a new deal.

The nineteen-year-old became United’s youngest player ever when he made his 16-year debut under Jose Mourinho in 2017, but never made it to a regular place in the early XI, like his young teammates Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams .

While United wanted to keep Gomes, he decided to leave the club he had been in since he was six to pursue his career elsewhere, with a move beyond the cards.

He was greeted with good luck by his English youth teammate Foden, who also posted a video of the couple playing together when they were just kids on Twitter.

The Blues midfielder wrote: “I always run the same. Back with Angel Gomes !! Good luck with the next chapter of your career brother.”

To which Gomes replied saying: “Thank you, my friend, I appreciate it, you still play exactly like that”, accompanied by an emoji that laughs crying.

United believe they have submitted a “good offer” for Gomes, which was highly appreciated by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Representatives of Gomes, his brother Rico and his father Gil, actively explored better deals and opportunities elsewhere during the negotiations. Although sources close to the midfielder have told MAN that he has yet to settle in his next club.

While United are keen to tune in to Gomes’ reservations about the lack of a path for the first team, it feels like it has been distracted by its future and this explains the complete absence of Gomes from the late-day teams from late January in then.
